Alan Moore ist ein englischer Schriftsteller, der vor allem für seine Arbeit in der Comicbook-Branche bekannt ist und dort hohes Ansehen genießt. Bekannt wurde er durch seine einflussreichen und angesehenen Graphic Novels wie "Watchmen", "V for Vendetta" und "From Hell".
In Moore's Schreibstil wendet er literarische und formalistische Sensibilitäten auf die Mainstream-Comicbuch-Medien an. Dabei ist er für seine herausfordernden Themen und die Einbeziehung von Erwachseneninhalten in seiner Arbeit bekannt. Moore's Schreibstil ist zudem von einer Vielzahl von Quellen beeinflusst, darunter literarische Autoren wie William S. Burroughs, Thomas Pynchon und Robert Anton Wilson, New Wave Science-Fiction-Autoren wie Michael Moorcock, Horror-Autoren wie Clive Barker und cineastische Einflüsse wie Nicolas Roeg.
Neben seiner Arbeit an Comics hat Moore auch einen Roman verfasst, "Voice of the Fire", und hat einmalige Performance Art/Sprechstück-Auftritte mit The Moon and Serpent Grand Egyptian Theatre of Marvels durchgeführt, von denen einige auf CD veröffentlicht wurden.
