Aliette de Bodard ist eine Autorin von Science-Fiction und Fantasy, die in den Vereinigten Staaten geboren und in Frankreich aufgewachsen ist. Trotz ihres Aufwachsens in der schönen Stadt Paris sorgten ihre Eltern dafür, dass sie bereits in jungen Jahren Englisch sprach, und ihre Bücher sind auf Englisch erhältlich. De Bodard ist bekannt für ihre einzigartige Erzählweise, die Elemente ihrer vietnamesischen Herkunft mit Science-Fiction- und Fantasy-Themen verbindet.
De Bodard hat zahlreiche Auszeichnungen für ihr Werk erhalten, darunter drei Nebula Awards, einen Ignyte Award, einen Locus Award, einen British Fantasy Award und vier British Science Fiction Association Awards. Sie war 2019 auch in den Kategorien Beste Serie und Beste Novelle für den Hugo Award nominiert. Ihr neuestes Buch ist "Fireheart Tiger", ein queerer romantischer Fantasy-Roman, der von vorcolonialem Vietnam inspiriert ist, in dem eine Diplomatenprinzessin über das Schicksal ihres Landes und ihres eigenen Herzens entscheiden muss.
