Carrie Vaughn ist eine erfolgreiche US-amerikanische Autorin, die vor allem für ihre Urban-Fantasy- und Paranormal-Romance-Romane bekannt ist. Sie ist Schöpferin der beliebten Kitty Norville-Reihe. Vaughn begann ihre Schriftstellerkarriere mit dem Verfassen von Science-Fiction- und Fantasy-Kurzgeschichten. Ihre Liebe zum Schreiben führte sie zu weiterführenden Bildungsabschlüssen, und sie erwarb einen Bachelor- und Master-Abschluss in Englischer Literatur. Derzeit wohnt sie in Boulder, Colorado.
Vaughn wurde am 28. Januar 1973 in Sacramento, Kalifornien, geboren und wuchs in einer Militärfamilie auf. Ihr Vater diente während des Vietnamkriegs als Teil der B-52-Flugzeugbesatzung. Aufgrund der Militärkarriere ihres Vaters zog Vaughn während ihrer Kindheit häufig um und lebte in verschiedenen Staaten, darunter Kalifornien, North Dakota, Colorado, Florida und Maryland.
Carrie Vaughn hat mehr als zwanzig Romane und über hundert Kurzgeschichten geschrieben. Sie ist bekannt für ihre New-York-Times-Bestseller-Reihe über ein Werwolf namens Kitty, die eine Talkradioshow für die übersinnlich Benachteiligten moderiert. 2018 erhielt Vaughn den Philip K. Dick Award für "Bannerless", einen postapokalyptischen Kriminalroman. Zwei ihrer Kurzgeschichten wurden für den Hugo Award nominiert. Darüber hinaus hat Vaughn für die Wild Cards-Reihe von George R. R. Martin herausgegebener superheldenbezogener Shared-World-Bücher beigetragen und ist Absolventin des Odyssey-Fantasy-Schreibworkshops. Trotz ihrer nomadischen Kindheit hat Vaughn es geschafft, sich in Boulder, Colorado, zu verwurzeln, wo sie gerne verschiedene Hobbys sammelt.
