G. Willow Wilson ist eine renommierte amerikanische Autorin, geboren in New Jersey am 31. August 1982. Sie hat durch ihre Arbeit, die sowohl Romane als auch Comics umfasst, einen bedeutenden Einfluss in der Literaturwelt ausgeübt. Ihr Schreibstil wurde mit prestigeträchtigen Auszeichnungen wie dem Hugo, World Fantasy und American Book Award gewürdigt.
Bekanntheit erlangte Wilson vor allem durch ihren Roman "The Bird King" (2019) sowie als Co-Schöpferin der Hugo und American Book Award gewinnenden Serie "Ms Marvel" (2013-2018). Zudem hat sie an einigen der bekanntesten Superhelden-Comicbook-Reihen mitgewirkt, wie "The X-Men", "Superman" und "Wonder Woman". Ihr Schreibstil wird für seine Originalität und Innovation gelobt, weshalb sie 2015 mit dem Graphic Literature Innovator Prize bei den PEN America Literary Awards ausgezeichnet wurde.
Neben ihrer Tätigkeit in Comics und Romanen gewann Wilsons erster Roman, "Alif the Unseen", 2013 den World Fantasy Award für den besten Roman und war Finalistin für den Center For Fiction’s First Novel Prize sowie für den Women’s Prize for Fiction nominiert. Trotz ihrer zahlreichen Erfolge bleibt Wilson bescheiden und zugänglich, oft auf Twitter anzutreffen, auch wenn sie derzeit nicht sehr aktiv auf der Plattform ist.
