Lawrence Watt-Evans ist ein erfolgreicher amerikanischer Autor, geboren als Lawrence Watt Evans in Arlington, Massachusetts, im Jahr 1954. Er ist das vierte von sechs Kindern in seiner Familie. Die Leidenschaft für das Schreiben von Watt-Evans begann in jungen Jahren, bereits mit acht Jahren versuchte er sein erstes professionelles Stück. Er schloss die Bedford High School ab und besuchte später die Princeton University, erhielt jedoch keinen Abschluss.
Watt-Evans ist ein produktiver Schriftsteller, insbesondere in den Genres Fantasy, Science-Fiction, High Fantasy und Erwachsenenfiction. Er hat mehrere beliebte Buchserien geschrieben, darunter die Ethshar-Serie, War Surplus-Serie, Lords of Dus-Serie, Obsidian Chronicles-Serie und The Annals of the Chosen-Serie. Neben dem Schreiben unter seinem bürgerlichen Namen, Lawrence Watt-Evans, verwendet er auch das Pseudonym Nathan Archer, hauptsächlich für seine Science-Fiction-Romane.
Im Laufe seiner vierzigjährigen Schriftstellerkarriere hat Watt-Evans sich darum bemüht, Fantasy-Geschichten zu schaffen, die mit gesundem Menschenverstand einhergehen und vernünftige Charaktere aufweisen. Er glaubt an das Schreiben von Geschichten, die sich mit Lesern verbinden und Alltagsleben widerspiegeln. Neben seiner Schriftstellerei führt Watt-Evans ein relativ gewöhnliches Leben mit seiner Frau und zwei erwachsenen Kindern in einer ruhigen Vorortsiedlung.
