Michael D. Resnick, geboren 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, ist ein hoch angesehener Autor, der vor allem für seine Werke in den Genres Krimi, Thriller, Horror, Fantasy und Science-Fiction bekannt ist. Er besuchte die Highland Park High School und studierte an der University of Chicago.
Resnick, der auch unter dem Namen Mike Diamond Resnick schreibt, ist ein produktiver Autor mit 68 Romanen, über 250 Kurzgeschichten und 2 Drehbüchern. Er hat fünf Hugos, einen Nebula und mehrere andere bedeutende Preise in den USA, Frankreich, Spanien, Japan, Kroatien und Polen gewonnen und war in England, Italien und Australien für Preise nominiert. Seine Werke wurden in 25 Sprachen übersetzt. Resnick ist online präsent mit einer Website und einem Twitter-Account (@ResnickMike).
Neben seiner schriftstellerischen Tätigkeit war Resnick auch als beratender Science-Fiction-Herausgeber für BenBella Books und als Executive Editor für Jim Baen’s Universe tätig. Derzeit ist er Redakteur des Galaxy’s Edge Magazine und von Stellar Guild Books für Arc Manor Books. Resnick hat zudem mehr als 40 Anthologien herausgegeben. Er ist stolzer Vater und Ehemann, seine Tochter Laura ist ebenfalls Science-Fiction- und Fantasy-Autorin und gewann 1993 den Campbell Award für den besten neuen Science-Fiction-Autor. Er ist seit 1961 mit seiner Frau Carol verheiratet und sie werden in diesem Jahr ihr 57. Ehejubiläum feiern.
