Ramsey Campbell ist ein hoch angesehener englischer Autor, Herausgeber und Kritiker in den Genres Horror, Dark Fantasy, Thriller und Science Fiction. Er ist seit mehr als fünfzig Jahren aktiv tätig und hat ein umfangreiches Werk produziert, das Hunderte von Kurzgeschichten und mehr als dreißig Romane umfasst. Viele seiner Bücher gelten als Klassiker, und er hat die Ehre, dass drei von ihnen für nicht-englischsprachige Zielgruppen verfilmt wurden.
Campbell erlangte in den 1960er Jahren Bekanntheit und wird seitdem von Kritikern als einer der führenden Autoren in seinem Genre angesehen. Seine Arbeit wurde von Kollegen mit zahlreichen Auszeichnungen gewürdigt, wobei mehrere Kritiker und Autoren ihn als feinsten lebenden Autor von Weird Fiction in Großbritannien zitieren. S.T. Geboren in Liverpool am 4. Januar 1946 ist Ramsey Campbell seit weit über einem halben Jahrhundert eine prominente Figur in der Welt der Horrorliteratur. Seine Romane haben die Aufmerksamkeit von Filmemachern auf sich gezogen, wobei zwei von ihnen für nicht-englischsprachige Märkte adaptiert wurden.
