Susanna Daniel ist eine gefeierte Romanautorin, die für ihre einfühlsame Erzählweise und tiefgründigen Charaktere bekannt ist. Ihr Debütroman "Stiltsville" gewann 2011 den PEN/Bingham Prize für herausragende Debütwerke und wurde von Oprah.com, Amazon.com und der Huffington Post als eines der besten Bücher des Jahres 2010 ausgezeichnet. Ihr zweiter Roman "Sea Creatures", eine Auswahl des Target Book Club, wurde von Abraham Verghese als "ein fesselnder, unvergesslicher Roman" gelobt. Beide Werke spiegeln ihre tiefe Verbundenheit mit Miami wider, wo sie einen Großteil ihrer Kindheit im Stelzenhaus ihrer Familie in der Biscayne Bay verbrachte.
Daniel hat Abschlüsse von der Columbia University und dem University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, wo sie ihr Handwerk verfeinerte. Sie war Carl Djerassi Fiction Fellow am University of Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing und gründete gemeinsam mit der Autorin Michelle Wildgen das Madison Writers’ Studio.
