Elisabetta Dami ist eine italienische Autorin, die vor allem durch ihre Kinderbuchreihe Geronimo Stilton bekannt ist. Sie wurde 1958 in Mailand geboren und ist die Tochter des Verlegers Piero Dami, der Dami Editore 1972 gründete. Dami begann ihre Karriere in der Verlagsbranche als Korrektorin beim Verlag ihres Vaters, wo sie ihre Leidenschaft für das Schreiben entdeckte.
Die Erfahrungen von Dami als Freiwillige für kranke Kinder dienten als wichtige Inspirationsquelle für sie. Diese Erfahrungen führten zur Schöpfung ihrer bekanntesten Figur, Geronimo Stilton, einem Mäusecharakter, der aufregende Abenteuer erlebt. Die Geronimo Stilton-Reihe wurde in 35 Sprachen übersetzt und hat weltweit über 65 Millionen Exemplare verkauft. Interessanterweise wird Dami nicht namentlich auf den Buchcovern genannt, was ein Zeugnis für die globale Anziehungskraft ihres Charakters ist.
Neben dem Schreiben ist Dami auch Mitbesitzerin von Edizioni Piemme, einem italienischen Verlag. Sie hat mehr als 100 Bücher geschrieben, von denen viele Charaktere aus der Geronimo Stilton-Universum enthalten. Ihre anderen bedeutenden Werke umfassen Bücher mit Thea Stilton und Thea Schwestern, eine Gruppe von Mäusefiguren, die Colette, Nicky, Pamela, Paulina und Violet enthalten.
Das Abenteuer und die Erkundung lieben ist offensichtlich in Damis Schreiben. Sie begann im Alter von 23 Jahren zu reisen und ihre Erfahrungen auf der ganzen Welt haben viele ihrer Geschichten inspiriert. Sie hat Orte wie Alaska, Osterinsel, Zambia und Kilimanjaro besucht und sogar einen 75-Meilen-Marathon in der Sahara-Wüste absolviert. Dami teilt ihre Zeit zwischen Italien und Sedona, Arizona, und neben Schreiben und Reisen genießt sie Fallschirmspringen und hat einen Pilotenschein.
